Alain Steinmetz

Alain Steinmetz was born in Alsace region and used to be a medical doctor before getting infected by the blown glass virus in 1998.

At first a student of Patrick Lepage and then a follower of Allain Guillot, Alain Steinmetz is a perfectionist.
From the very beginning, he hunted for understanding the technical mastery. A fantastic fiddler, Alain self-built all the elements of his glassblower workshop. In his quest for perfection, he absorbed the different techniques of glass-blowing before dedicating himself to the mouth and hand-shaped glass-blowing art.

Alain Steinmetz manufactures perfumes bottles for the most famous perfumers. These bottles have the round and graceful shapes that Alain used to see on the woman-fashion drawings in his father’s tailor workshop.

Once he is convinced that he fully masters the spotless transparency technique, Alain Steinmetz can start shaping the large monolithic pieces in Nautile style. This spiral and voluptuous shape is a projection of a woman in the glass.

Alain Steinmetz’s quest for the Holy Grail is the object that no glass-blower has ever shaped, the perfect outcome between technique and artistic touch
